During large group time, we used props and acted out "Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed."
We picked items throughout our classroom to test. We wanted to know if they would sink or float. We made predictions and then did the experiment. We made a claim "heavy things sink." We used our experiment results as support; a rock sank, a shell sank, a crayon sank, a pencil floated, a glue stick floated, etc.
Last week we went on a leaf hunt. We collected many different kinds of leaves for a fall project. We used the leaves to make fall wreaths.
We saw many kinds of fruits and vegetables. We touched them, cut them open to see the inside, and smelled them. We saw a lobster and got to touch it! We saw meats, desserts, and the machine that roasts the coffee beans. We smelled the beans before and after they were roasted and saw the difference in color. We went into the big coolers in the back to see where they keep the food fresh. We saw how the baler crushes the boxes. We enjoyed cookies and juice. We brought home some fruit too. What a fun trip!!!
During small group time today the red table was building with magna-tiles. The blue table was working on fine motor skills with lacing. |
